Treetops

A family decked out in Canadian rain gear walk along the treetops. The adventure offers a squirrel’s eye view of a thriving coastal rainforest in the mid-story of 1300-year-old old growth Douglas-firs. Treetops Adventure uses an innovative compression system using no bolts or nails in the trees to secure its viewing platforms and 7 suspension bridges.

Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Vancouver - here you can venture from one magnificent Douglas-fir tree to another on a series of elevated suspension bridges, reaching as high as 110 feet (33.5m) above the forest floor. This is the entrance building.

Cliff Walk

The trail goes through the rainforest on a series of suspended walkways jutting out from the granite cliff face above the Capilano River. It is high and narrow and, in some sections, open grated walkways is all that separates you from the canyon below.

Capilano Suspension Bridge

An awesome walk unless you have vertigo. The Capilano Suspension Bridge spans 137m (450 ft) and 70m (230ft) high above the Capilano River with panoramic views of the rainforest and canyon below.

Climbers

A pair of climbers traverse along the edge of Shannon Falls. The falls are along the Sea to Sky Highway, British Columbia.

Shannon Falls

Our first stop along the Sea to Sky Highway was Shannon Falls. A breathtaking waterfall composed of a series of cliffs, rising 1100 feet, making it the third highest falls in British Columbia.

Brandywine Falls

Our second waterfall on the Sea to Sky Highway was Brandywine Falls. It's a straight drop of about 250 feet.

Stanley Park, Vancouver, BC

Walking and Biking Trails

We thoroughly enjoyed hiking through Stanley Park. A wonderful layout of trails which also included a lane for walking and another for bikes. Genius!

Siwash Rock

Siwash Rock is a sea stack found along the western shore of Stanley Park. The Squamish legend as told by the information plaque on the Seawall, says it stands as an “impenetrable monument to Skalsh the Unselfish” who was turned into stone by “Q’uas the Transformer” as a reward for his unrelenting devotion to his young family. Poet E. Pauline Johnson shares another version of this story in her “Legends of Vancouver” where she recites the legend of Siwash Rock: “You [Skalsh] shall never die, but you shall stand through all the thousands of years to come, where all eyes can see you. You shall live as an indestructible monument to Clean Fatherhood.”
